Here is a look at a family that has been empowered through job skill training and is approaching self sufficiency and sponsorship graduation. Meet Workinesh
Workinesh Girma is a single mother caring for her 9-year-old daughter, Sifen. Sifen lives with a developmental disability and is unable to speak. Because she requires full-time care and ongoing medical support, Workinesh is currently unable to work and has no stable source of income. Sifen takes regular medication and needs proper nutrition to support her health and well-being. They’re facing ongoing hardship and are in need of a regular sponsorship and assistance with rent to help provide stability and care for her daughter.

Meet Tinsaye
Tinsaye Bantiyider is a mother of three who is currently expecting another baby. Her children include Tigist (12), Netsanet (6), and Gebresadik (5). Tinsaye’s husband lives in the countryside and is not present at the moment to support the family, leaving her as the sole provider. With no stable income, she has been forced to beg to meet their daily needs. As her family grows and her situation becomes more challenging, they are in urgent need of a regular sponsorship and assistance with house rent to help ensure her children and new baby have a safe and stable environment.

Meet Selamawit
Selamawit Amare is 14 and currently in 8th grade. She dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Her mother, Beletu, earns a very limited income by collecting and selling firewood and leaves. She also suffers from a kidney-related health condition that affects her ability to work consistently. Selamawit’s father struggles with an eye problem, which limits his ability to contribute financially to the household. Because of these ongoing difficulties, the family faces hardship in meeting their daily needs and maintaining stability. They are currently in need of a regular sponsorship to help ensure Selamawit can continue pursuing her education and future goals.

Andreas lives with his wife and three children in Southern Ethiopia. Daniel is 9 years old, Emenet is 5 years old and they recently had another child. Andreas has a difficult time providing for the daily needs of his family.

Meet Hiwot
Hiwot Debebe is 12 and currently in 6th grade. She dreams of becoming an artist in the future. Hiwot lives with her mother, who is dealing with serious health conditions, including high blood pressure and kidney disease. Because of her illness, she cannot work and depends entirely on the support of others to meet the family’s basic needs. Despite these challenges, Hiwot’s mother has a strong desire to become self-sufficient. She has a business plan and hopes to start it if she can receive empowerment support. They are in need of a regular sponsorship to help create stability and allow Hiwot to continue her education and pursue her dream of becoming an artist.

Meet Addisalem
Addisalem Esubalew is a mother of three boys who lives in Korah, near the trash dump. Two of her sons live with her and are currently attending school. Addisalem works hard each day to care for them and keep them in class. Despite her efforts, the family faces financial challenges. She also struggles with a minor health condition, which makes it difficult to maintain steady work. With limited resources, the family is in need of a regular sponsorship to help cover basic needs and ensure the children can continue their education in a safe and stable setting.

Beza Anja is a 10-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She lives with her mother, Abebech, and her younger brother, Addisalem, who is 8. He hopes to become an engineer in the future. Their mother faces significant challenges due to a health condition that affects her right hand. She continues to work through it to provide for her children by collecting and selling firewood using only one hand. Despite her hard work, the family struggles to meet their daily needs. Regular sponsorship would help provide greater stability for the household and allow Beza and Addisalem to continue pursuing their education and future dreams.

Debra Leta is 18 and currently in 9th grade. She dreams of becoming a doctor one day. She lives with her younger brother, Yohannes, who is 7 and attending 2nd grade, and their mother, who has been raising the children alone since their father left the family. Despite living with a heart condition, their mother works tirelessly to support them by collecting and selling firewood and leaves. As Debra grows older, she is beginning to work and help support the household as well. With regular sponsorship support, Debra and her mother would be able to work towards full self-sufficiency and start providing independently for their family’s future.

Tazita Belachew is a 17 and currently in 10th grade. She dreams of becoming an astronomer in the future. She is a motivated and dedicated learner who remains focused on her education and future goals. Tazita’s father takes on any work he can find to support the household, and her mother also works whenever opportunities are available. Tazita’s parents continue to encourage and support her education as she works toward building a brighter future. The family is currently in need of a regular sponsorship to help provide greater stability and allow Tazita to continue pursuing her studies and dreams.
