I cannot explain just how life changing this trip was. So many doors were opened. It was so neat being on the other end of everything this time. This time I was traveling with my sister and I got to be the onlooker unlike last Sept when I was in her shoes, picking up our new adopted son. The trip began for me by walking back into this amazing country that holds such a special place in my heart. All the familiar sites and sounds and smells immediately took me back to Sept of 08 when we arrived with much anticipation to pick up our 6th child. The day after we arrived we headed to the orphanage to pick up little Lucy Lane, my sister’s newly adopted 6 month old girl. I took in all the emotions of that amazing moment as they handed her over to her new Momma. Tears were flowing from all of us....except Lucy. She never took the smile off her face. I also was the assigned photographer and videographer .(all at the same time) I loved Hannah’s Hope and the director of Hannah’s Hope Orphanage. She allowed me to photograph the waiting children in order to come home and advocate for them. She has the biggest heart for these kids. The kids were just absolutely precious and so full of life and personality. Because of this whole divine appointment, it opened the door for the waiting children portion of our Ordinary Hero site. I am so thrilled to play a small role in helping these children find their forever families.
One of the biggest blessings of the trip as well was that I had the privilege of meeting my son’s birthmom and his sister. I can’t tell you how emotional we all were. I saw love from this mother toward her son unlike anything I had ever seen before. My heart broke for her but it was so good for us to meet. I am so blessed that God worked it out as he did. It truly was something that I will never forget.
I have now made it a mission and a goal to hopefully travel back to ET once a year with OH to photograph the waiting children and help find them their forever families.
